Realizations
Posted by ns07 under Uncategorized | Tags: abilities, cheat, dreams, happiness, humor, lie, life, limits, music, people, steal. happy, victory |No Comments
So here it goes, a list of things I’ve realized (in case the title didn’t provide that clue)….this is of course tentative:
- Being happy is not a sin, nor is it selfish. Take the pleasure of being happy, which leads on to the next thing.
- The small things are truly the best things in life. That one tiny part of a song which you love. That faint scent of your favorite cologne/perfume…
- People will try to keep you from being happy, because deep down that’s what makes them happy. Being superior to others is unfortunately very important to some…in fact it’s important to all of us. This is acceptable in the sense that it promotes competition (which makes both people work harder) or it creates a situation in which “may the best man win”…while that’s all fine and dandy, 15 years from now, that small victory will be rather worthless.
- People are idiots. People BS. People lie. People cheat. People steal. People who fall for these peoples’ antics are indeed idiots.
- We are capable of so much more. If only we knew our abilities, we wouldn’t focus so much on our limits.
- to be continued in the future….

Long time no update, I kind of messed up on that….heh sorry. I know you guys missed the show, everyone wants to read about my wonderful life
During the past weeks, I’ve been busy with college. My courses are Accounting, Spanish, English, and Math…I would love to give you course numbers and full descriptions of them, but seeing as how this world has prospered on the “stalking tools” that are Facebook, I will pass on such details.
I have made a decision in my life, actually last night, and I will create a brand new post just for that purpose…trust me it won’t be another 3 weeks before an update this time. But hey I figure, I’ll leave a little room for suspense.
Anyhow, I’m off to the women’s basketball game UNC vs. Maryland, so know that if you are watching on ESPN, you might get a glimpse of me and not even know it. Aaahhh…the life of a celebrity! ![]()

Learning the guitar
Posted by ns07 under music | Tags: fender, guitar, instrument, learn, music, musical instrument, squier |1 Comment
Today I became serious about learning to play the guitar. I have had the guitar for about 4 years now. wow.
Well, a couple of years ago I convinced my parents to buy me a Squier Strat (electric) for a Christmas present…and 4 years later it has sat there collecting dust. I had many friends who were willing to teach me…but friends arent exactly the best teachers (”dude, just put your fingers like this”)…
Anyhow, seeing as how one of my resolutions is to learn to play the guitar, I decided to pick it up last night and start playing. I had to tune it obviously, it had been a while. EADGB…and pop. Ooops! Yea, so there goes the plan of learning to play…
but alas, today I woke up and was determined to start. I went to a local guitar shop who said he couldn’t string the guitar for me in 2 hours because he was the only one working…even though the place was empty except 2 other customers. So I head over to Music-Go-Round and the guy strung my guitar in 20 minutes…hmmm, either the first guy was really slow or really lazy.
But anyhow, I got my guitar stringed up and I ACTUALLY LEARNED a little today. (For those into guitars, I just got the Martin & Co. DARCO Electric Guitar strings). So, yea, I’m excited about learning.
If any of you out there play the guitar, post your tips or your comments.
And of course, even the non-guitar playing people are welcome on this blog. ![]()

Chicken is not meat
Posted by ns07 under food | Tags: chicken, customer service, food, mexican, vegetarian, vegetarianism |[2] Comments
This story is similar to a time when I went to an IHOP in California and asked for some of the vegetarian dish options. To this, the waiter asked “Do you want chicken salad?”…
So tonight, my family and I went out to a nice local mexican restaurant. I got the taco loco (which means crazy taco for the clueless out there). My mom got her usual bean and cheese enchilada. My sister and father split the fajitas vegetarian.
We feasted…no we destroyed the basket of chips greedily. We received our meal and began to do the same.
Halfway through the meal, my father asks me to see what it was. It being a mysterious slightly hard piece of chicken. The chicken was in the fajitas vegetarian.
Being an American (or atleast an American citizen ;)), I ask the waiter if that was chicken. To which he replied in his mediocre mastery of the english language “I suppose”. So I ask him why there is chicken in a dish called “fajitas vegetarian”. To this I receive a shocking answer: “Well sometimes, cooks in back you know, area is messy and they don’t clean….maybe it fell in with other meat dishes”….okay thats a good explanation (the last part)…but why on earth are you telling me that they don’t clean a messy area?
I ask to speak to a manager because at that point our apetite was gone. (We are 100% vegetarians from India and we don’t want any of our food to contain meat!) I didn’t want a refund, I was just upset…but I still expected a refund for a ruined meal. To this he replied but “don’t you guys eat chicken?”
With this are 2 problems: 1) “you guys” refers to the Indians who frequent the restaurant and abstain from meat 2) If we ate chicken, why would we have ordered all vegetarian dishes…and better yet why are we still talking about this?
So apparently chicken is not meat. Chicken is technically vegetarian. Lets not even go into the fact that we were stereotyped as the Indians who don’t eat beef but eat every other piece of animal flesh…
The manager took off the dish from the bill, but didn’t seem too sympathetic or caring.
We left unhappy. But now comes a better question, will I ever return? Will I start going to places that have less preconceived notions about a race’s diet and places that know that chicken is not meat? Will I ever step foot in that establishment?
We know the answers to these questions.
But some people still need an answer to the question: Is chicken considered meat?

Trance Music = Amazing

Many people are ignorant when it comes to trance music. The genre is one of the most popular in Europe and across the world in parties. Yet, it is largely ignored or even ridiculed in America. I don’t understand why this is so. Maybe its because techno bashing has been going on for so long that people think that all electronic music is techno.
Well its not. Trance is a genre of its own. And I love it. In fact, whenever I write on here, I am usually listening to it. It opens up your mind. It literally puts you in a state of trance. I don’t know why I made a post just for this, but I really think people should check out the genre!
Here are some great tracks to enjoy:
“Can’t Sleep” by Above & Beyond
“Just Be” by DJ Tiesto
“Autumn Tactics” (Thrillseekers Remix) by Chicane…in fact anything by Chicane is really good (despite it being technically of the “house” genre)
There are so many more. I would love to share some of my music tastes with you.
I use Pandora heavily, let me know if you are interested and I’ll send you a link to listen to my favorite music for free.
Till then, enjoy the genre.
currently listening to “Tell Me Why” by Paul Van Dyk.

Happy New Year!
Posted by ns07 under Uncategorized | Tags: 2008, attitude, change, family, friends, happy new year, love, music, new year, poem, resolution, smoking, stereotypes, voice, weight |No Comments

Well here we are, off to another year! I have already mentioned my resolutions…and I am sure most of you are tired of hearing about losing weight and quitting smoking. Those things are good to achieve, but we must remember what the new year truly brings us.
2008 marks the beginning of a new beginning. We have a chance to change. We have the opportunity to seize opportunities. And we have the hope for a brighter future for the world. So go ahead and lose weight. Go ahead and quit smoking. But in it all, don’t forget what matters. Don’t forget the small things. Cherish the time with family and friends. Love them. Love yourself. Sit down and think. Listen to music. Read a poem. Write a poem. Let your voice be heard. Listen to others. Change your attitude. Change your stereotypes. Change your negatives. Change whatever necessary.
Change for the better.
I wish you all and your families a Happy New Year!

New Years Resolutions

Today is December 31st, and shortly we will enter the year of 2008. Now I would love to sit here and type out everything that happened to me this year, but in reality only a few matter:
1) I graduated from high school. -This marked the end of nonsense, and the beginning of true education and learning.
2) I visited India. -Visiting India this summer was an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! I met my grandparents who still live there and I realized how much I love them. I realized how much they have accomplished. I realized how beautiful my country is. But in the end what matters is I realized who I am.
3) I started college at UNC. -I began my first year of college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. And I am loving it.
4) I lent my ears. -I became a better listener. This is quite an accomplishment for an 18-year-old male.
5) I started thinking. -This year I began thinking about things…and about life. Wow.
…so those are just a few things I felt worth mentioniong.
Now, these are the things I need to work on. So without further ado, my New Year’s Resolutions:
1) Become myself again. -Realize who I was, who I am, and who I want to be.
2) Be nice. -Stop being judgemental, and be a better person.
3) Thank. -Be gracious for wonderful family and friends.
4) Focus on education. -Be a better student, stop procrastinating, and read more.
5) Learn to play the guitar. -I’ve had it for 3 years…it’s about time to start learning to play.
